Purpose Statement: This blog post will evaluate the online presence of a business before I write a profile for them for the upcoming Newberg Gift Card site, in order to keep the strengths of their current strategy and learn who they are as a business.
The restaurant I'm profiling, Taqueria El Burrito, has a pretty solid online presence. Their website, https://newbergmexicanfood.com, is the third Google result for "mexican food newberg," after Yelp and TripAdvisor, which seems to indicate that their SEO game is on point. They also have a solid profile on their website already, which I'll include below:
Welcome to Taqueria El Burrito, your best choice for authentic Mexican cuisine in the Newberg, OR area. When you are in the mood for Mexican food, we have some delicious items for you. Our Mexican restaurant is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends.
Some of our tasty offerings are:
We are a locally owned business that has been providing the best Mexican food around for many years. We take pride in our professionalism, fresh ingredients, and our excellent customer service we are also are bilingual so that way may provide the same great service in Spanish as well. We are proud to provide authentic Mexican food and drinks that will delight your taste buds. Stop by Taqueria El Burrito today for the best Mexican food in Newberg, OR.
As far as I can tell, this is a very well-written profile. Some possible SEO terms I see are "authentic," "local," and the menu items included in the profile. There are a few issues, however, mostly with the grammar and phrasing in the last paragraph. I'm also confused by the inclusion of "Take Out Services" in the list of food items.
The photos on the site are a little strangely framed and also pretty grainy. The reviews page apparently hasn't updated in a while. Overall, this site is serviceable and the SEO work is done well in a way I'd want to mimic, but there are some small ways it can be cleaned up.
The site doesn't state an audience as explicitly as some others, but the language of "stopping by" in the last sentence is inviting and leaves it open to both locals and visitors, which is something that the Newberg Downtown Coalition is also focusing on.
Other than the site, Taqueria El Burrito has an Instagram profile that hasn't been updated for over a year, and a more active Facebook page. Their focus on facebook—beside promotion—seems to be community engagement, which shows that they want to connect with Newberg residents.
